Students are introduced to the general duties of the medical assistant profession in the health care setting. This course provides instruction to students in administrative office procedures, as well as providing exercises in judgment, independent action, and coping with interruptions. Examples, explanations, and illustrations refer to medical material and situations. The increased importance of the computer and of other new technology in the medical office is emphasized throughout. This course includes interactive projects.

  • Identify types of verbal and nonverbal communication
  • Identify different types of electronic technology used in professional communication

  • Correctly use and pronounce medical terminology in health care interactions

AMA 114 with a minimum grade of 70% or 1.6
