This course is the third in a series of medical terminology courses associated with anatomy and physiology with an understanding of disease processes and conditions. Students learn basic prefixes, suffixes, combining forms and body structure terminology related to the Urinary, Nervous & Mental Health, Special Senses of the eye & ear, and the Integumentary body systems. Students will define medical terms and abbreviations related to each body system studied.
Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy/physiology of the urinary, nervous & mental health, special senses of eye & ear, and integumentary systems
- Use medical terminology including roots, prefixes, and suffixes related to body systems
- Pronounce, spell, and define medical terms
- Identify CLIA waived tests relating to each body system studied
- Identify the classifications of medications related to each body system studied including indications for use, desired effects, side effects, and adverse reactions
- Analyze pathology for each body system including diagnostic measures and treatment modalities
- Define medical terms and abbreviations related to each body system studied

MAC 117 with a minimum grade of 70% or 1.6
