Nail Technology
The Nail Technology program prepares students for entry into the professional nail care industry through a structured progression of scientific knowledge, technical skill development, and applied practice. Designed to meet Washington State Department of Licensing requirements, the program emphasizes both the health and safety foundations of nail services and the advanced techniques required in contemporary salon environments. Students develop competencies in sanitation, nail structure, and product chemistry while gaining hands-on experience with current industry methods and tools. The program supports career readiness for licensure and employment in a range of professional settings within the nail care field.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Perform professional manicures, pedicures, and advanced enhancements (Gel-X, builder gels, and acrylics) to industry speed and aesthetic standards.
- Execute all services in strict compliance with Washington State RCW/WAC regulations regarding infection control and chemical handling.
- Identify biological nail structures and recognize disorders to determine appropriate service protocols or medical referrals.
- Develop a professional social media portfolio and digital presence to manage client acquisition in the modern "Specialist Economy."
- Apply foundational skills in scheduling, accounting, and professional client consultations.
- Synthesize theoretical and practical knowledge to successfully complete 600 hours and pass the Washington State Manicurist licensure exams.
- Demonstrate competency in providing nail and skin care for a diverse range of clients, ensuring inclusive practices across all nail textures and skin tones.
