This course is a continuation of Medical Office Clinical Applications I (CMA 150). It will cover medical assisting principles in a variety of medical specialties, demonstrate proper infection control, discuss PPE requirements, and prepare for a variety of patient examinations.

- Identify the general principles of physical therapy and other specialized therapies
- Obtain proper specimens for urine, microbiological and specialty testing
- Discuss the geriatric population and health education of the aging adult, societal bias and psychological changes
- Display professional behavior and use of appropriate protective equipment (PPE) for various procedures in a simulated medical lab setting
- Correctly obtain a complete set of patient vitals
- Examine specific websites to review and become familiar with the CLIA laws
- Properly maintain lab test results using flow sheets; complete electronic and paper lab order forms
- Demonstrate proper infection control practices and apply principles of medical asepsis to prevent the spread of pathogens in healthcare settings
- Demonstrate the ability to prepare for pediatric examinations by organizing appropriate equipment, ensuring a safe and child-friendly environment, and apply age-appropriate communication techniques to support the child and caregiver during the exam
- Accurately obtain pediatric measurements (height/length, weight, and head circumference) using proper techniques and plot the data on standardized growth charts to assess growth patterns and identify values outside expected ranges
- Identify common mental health conditions and analyze key biological, psychological, and social risk factors that influence mental health across a patient’s lifespan
