This course is an introduction to the theory and fundamentals of programmable logic controllers with emphasis on applying and using ladder logic programming. Topics include hardware components, number systems, fundamentals of logic, basic PLC programming using ladder logic, timer & counter instructions, control instructions, data manipulation & math instructions, sequencer & shift register instructions. Lab includes using Allen-Bradley MicroLogicx 1000 to build ladder logic programs to perform basic tasks.
