This course prepares students for employment in ambulatory healthcare settings and for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) credential offered by the National Healthcareer Association. Students will review their previous foundational knowledge and practical skills in medical office administration and will be prepared to sit for the CMAA exam through the NHA.

Outcomes
  • Apply foundational knowledge of medical assisting, including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, healthcare systems, and professional ethics, to support safe and effective administrative and clinical practices.
  • Demonstrate competency in administrative medical assisting tasks, including patient scheduling, medical records management, insurance processing, coding, billing, and electronic health record (EHR) documentation in preparation for the National Healthcareer Association Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) examination
  • Demonstrate readiness for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) Certification Examination by successfully completing practice assessments, critical thinking exercises, and exam-based scenarios aligned with current NHA competency standards.
