A continuation of the concepts introduced in AUTOB 201, students apply a variety of automotive topcoats including single-stage, basecoat/clearcoat, and tri-coat finishes. Buffing, compounding, and detailing of newly painted vehicles for delivery is also presented.
Outcomes
- Identify common paint defects and explain their causes and correction procedures.
- Apply tri-coat finish systems following manufacturer specifications to meet OEM finish standards.
- Perform wet sanding and buffing on fresh urethane paint to achieve a defect-free finish.
