Biology DTA/MRP

The Associate in Biology Direct Transfer Agreement/Major Related Program (DTA/MRP) is a state-recognized transfer degree designed for students who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biology or related fields in the natural sciences. This program combines general education coursework with major-specific preparation to support successful transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

Students completing the Biology DTA/MRP degree are prepared to transfer with junior standing and will have completed most lower-division general education requirements as well as key prerequisites for the biology major. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and mathematics, along with coursework in communication, humanities, and social sciences to support a well-rounded academic experience.

This pathway integrates major preparation within the Direct Transfer Agreement framework, helping students develop the knowledge and skills needed for upper-division study in areas such as cellular and molecular biology, organismal biology, and ecology. Students are encouraged to work closely with an advisor and consult their intended transfer institution to ensure alignment with specific university and program requirements.

Completion of this degree prepares students for continued study in biology and related disciplines, leading to opportunities in healthcare, environmental science, biotechnology, education, and other science-related fields.
