Program Learning Outcomes
- Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material using calculators, hand tools, and machines on metal.
- Interpret construction blueprints to identify dimensions, materials, and installation requirements for sheet metal projects.
- Interpret guidelines set forth by OSHA/WISHA/HAZ COM and occupation standards
- Identify and properly use common hand tools and machines for cutting, forming, and assembling sheet metal components.
- Fabricate and install a variety of assemblies: heating and air conditioning ducts, equipment, and architectural metal components
- Perform basic computer functions relating to duct design and CAD fabrication
- Develop independent work habits and positive interpersonal abilities to create a team environment in the workplace
- Use calculators, dividers, squares, and rulers for geometric construction in drafting.
- Apply mathematical principles to accurately interpret technical drawings, calculate material dimensions, bend allowances, and layout patterns for sheet metal fabrication.
- Identify and understand the historical moments and values of the sheet metal trade and how it shaped the sheet metal trade.
- Apply industry related skills for esential tasks towards suplemental training for handling, and transporting materials and personel.
